i cant think of a title so....

today i heard that amare stoudemire got poked pretty bad in the eye. i hate that. dont worry he will be fine. the bigger issue is that boris diaw poked him in the eye. for the last couple of months i have said that the suns need to trade diaw and kerr just wouldnt listen. diaw is notorious for poking people. usually its in the side or stomach after telling a joke that no one gets and he resorts to the poking technique to get a reaction, but he must have gotten a little carried away and got amare right in the eye. good might come of this. it is rumored that stoudemire might need to wear goggles for the rest of his career. imagine amare stoudemire with goggles and a frow, slashing down the middle of the court, getting a sweet pass from nash and then just dunking on tim duncan. he might as well wear short shorts, go completely retro. i guarantee he would be everyones favorite player if he isnt already. here are some pictures of the worlds favorite basketabll players, amazingley, they all wear goggles.

the legend.

the stallion.

the trash talker. (telling coach how it is)

bird man. ( i would also like to wish larry a happy birthday)

i cant think of anything else. i was hesitant to put bird man. these glasses are sweet and i think stoudemire should borrow them from ben.

thank you, thank you, yeah i had a good time

We went to California this last weekend. It almost didn’t happen because several people almost bailed but everyone actually came through this week and we were able to go unlike the lake powell trip that never happened last week. I don’t think there is anything more peaceful than the ocean. We went during “Shark Week” on discovery channel and for some reason I like to think about “what ifs” when im in the ocean. If a shark attacked me I would straight punch that fish in the face, for reals. Actually I really think I would die of a hard attack (while rereading this post I realized I put “hard attack” instead of heart attack, I like hard attack better so im leavin it. my blog, my rules.) if a shark attacked me. Most interesting fact learned during shark week: sharks are more likely to attack some one in a red or yellow swimsuit and less likely to attack a black swimsuit. Remember that. Anyways, we got to Oceanside on Thursday night and stayed until Sunday. I brought a camera but didn’t take it out once. In closing, I would like to give several thank yous to some of those involved in the trip. Thank you ernie for sleeping the days away and then not sleeping at night. Thank you morgan for putting tanning oil on your body that hasn’t seen the sun all summer and then falling asleep on the beach, also for falling asleep with headphones on so there would be tan lines where the cords were. Thank you zach for dragging around 200 pounds worth of seaweed in the ocean, trying to put it on top of other people then just putting it on yourself. Thank you chandler for beating me at cards, again thank you morgan for the horrible job of shuffling. Thank you brady and nicole (yeah im giving you a shout out, I know brady reads this) for coming down for the day to hang out. Thank you gaslight district in san diego for not having parking for under 20 bucks, if it wasn’t for you we would have spent another 20 bucks on tickets to the padres and giants game, two teams that we cant name a single player who plays for them. And thank you sal masekela for always giving us some one to make fun of while watching the x games.

No Cutting Ronny

Last Friday we went to the Team USA vs Team Canada game at the Thomas and Mack Center. At first the game was pretty boring. Most UNLV basketball games have more highlights than the first half had. The second half was a lot better and Team USA looked more like the Harlem Globetrotters which was what everyone was hoping for. the game wasnt even close and Team USA won by almost 60 points.

Before the game Ronny Turiaf totally cut us in line to get tickets. Then he let Derrick Fisher back cut. Not cool guys. Most people that were there were Lakers fans (for some reason most people from vegas are) so they didnt care. We didnt really care either, the guy is in the nba, he can do whatever he wants at stuff like this

Bill Gates and Warren Buffet were at the game. also the guy in the white shirt sitting next to bill gates is Ludacris.

even though the way we play basketball is very similar, our shoes arent.

Family Reunion

every year on the fourth of july we have a family reunion up at brianhead, ut. every year we also go down to parawan and watch the towns fourth of july parade. i dont feel like writing a lot so here are some pictures

ty is sick of waiting for the parade, as was i.

after the parade everyone goes over to the park and they have kind of a town fair. they have races for the little kids. this is me coaching riley. she lost this race to her older cousin but it was an older division, she dominated the kids her age. everyone one of my nephews and nieces came in first in their age divisions, they had good coaches

by far the creepiest part of the parade

crossfire- the ultimate challenge

The other day while walking through DI we came across an old crossfire game. my initial reaction was to buy it. then i remembered that crossfire is one of those games that seems like the greatest game ever when your not playing it but once you play it you remember that it isnt that fun. it is proven that 99% of all crossfire boards have one gun that works good and another gun that always gets jammed and doesnt work. I remember the bb's would always get lost. the commercials for the game were intense. kids coming into an arena of screaming fans riding a hover board, playing with lightning in the background and the loser spins away. the commercial refers to it as the ultimate challenge. life would be awesome if the ultimate challenge was a game of crossfire. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=rCwn1NTK-50)
the person who owned the crossfire board always won because they knew which side worked and which side didnt. people say that home court advantage is most important in the nba, but in crossfire its more important. anyways we didnt buy the crossfire board, it didnt have any bb's.

learn to paint

the man in this picture is bob ross. his show used to always be on pbs but has slowly been taken off the air. last week his show was on and i watched him take a plain white canvas and within an hour paint an entire mountain range with a river and birds and everything you would think a mountain range would have. time flew by. me and my roommate debated over who is a better artist, van gough or ross. we couldnt decide because their styles are so different. van gough had a colorful impressionist style while ross is more of a boom! in your face, i'll paint whatever i want to kind of style. ross is definitley more of a people person although we dont really know because van gough never had a television show. during the show, bob talks to his paintings. when he was painting the river he said, "make it a happy river, there, a happy river, oh what a happy river". what makes a river happy? nintendo was going to make a bob ross painting game for the wii but decided to cancel the project. thats too bad. i would much rather paint on the wii then in real life. in real life you get paint everywhere and you cant erase your mistakes. i bet i am a lot better artist on video games then in real life.

ugliest or greatest?

the other day i read a post about shaq and his shoes on another blog (deepthoughtsandlove.blogspot.com). it made me realize that what some people consider to be ugly shoes, are the coolest shoes ever to other people. i remember back in the day, people would always talk about how ugly tennis players shoes were. i personally liked them because they were different and had tennis balls as pumps, but would never have been caught wearing them. now, looking at those old tennis shoes, people would pay a lot of money for them. nike has come out with new shoes designed after the old style of tennis shoes. i got these pictures from a website that counted down the ugliest tennis shoes ever.

these are my favorites

these are cool also

These shoes arent tennis shoes. they are kobe's shoes from about 3 years ago. if basketball were ever played on the moon, these are the shoes the players would have to wear. i heard they were designed after a car (audi). these make me not want to buy that car. maybe kobe can pull them off but no one else can.

I just realized kobes shoes have gotten a lot better since he moved from adidas to nike. maybe its not his fault for some of those moon shoe designs. here's one of kobe's last shoes with adidas

ridiculous.

this picture brings back a lot of memories. i ran into bishop nolte today and he asked when we were going to softball. i said "whenever". i rememebr the first game i put myself in right field figuring it was the best place for me to not have the ball hit to me (im a hitter, not a fielder). the first batter up hit the ball over my head and after that i spent the rest of the season as the catcher. one saturday afternoon after playing we decided to go to chuckarama. i still dont understand why we did that. edgar had me pull over when we were on university ave. after leaving the restaurant because he had to throw up. thank you edgar for speaking up and not throwing up in my car. i cant think of anything else, but im sure there's a lot more stuff that happened.

throwback

so i have decided that the phoenix suns should switch back to their old uniforms, the ones they wore in the 80's. i have been looking all over ebay trying to buy these shorts and can't find them.

so we went to the festival of colors thing again this year. i think they used a different kind of chalk because this year it seemed a lot harder to breath. it wasnt as fun as last year because i knew what was going to happen and what it was going to be like but it was still fun. then we made a huge mistake and went to the chinese buffet on university avenue by lons cookin shack. the best part about it was my fortune cookie. it didnt make any sense but it made me feel good and i think that is what a good fortune cookie is supposed to do.

team creed vs. team nickelback

so, our intramural team lost. we played with a lot of heart at the end and could have come back if we only had a little more time. we definitely had more style than the other team and could have took them if it turned into a fight but they did shoot better than us during the game. their name was team creed, adding a low blow to the defeat. i wander if the band creed can actually play basketball? what band would win in a basketball game, creed or nickelback? im not familiar enough with the two bands but i could imagine it would a good matchup.

blog title

i need a title for my blog. give your suggestions

Wednesday, March 5, 2008

so, im a big fan of the phoenix suns. i know no one reads this but maybe one day someone will stumble onto this page and it will turn them into a believer also. the suns will make the playoffs. they will win their first round match up. they will win their second round match up. third round? i make no guarentees but if they do win in the third round of the playoffs (western conference finals) i would bet money, since im a betting man, that the suns will be our 2008 nba champions. it would be a sweet day seeing nash win a championship. when i was 12 i wrote steve nash a letter and he wrote me back and sent me an autogrphed basketball card. yeah, he was a rookie and no one knew who he was back then but regardless, he was my favorite player. i havent lost faith in the suns. they havent been playing very well as of late but things will pick up. my geuss is they go on a five game win streak starting next week.
