thank you, thank you, yeah i had a good time
We went to California this last weekend. It almost didn’t happen because several people almost bailed but everyone actually came through this week and we were able to go unlike the lake powell trip that never happened last week. I don’t think there is anything more peaceful than the ocean. We went during “Shark Week” on discovery channel and for some reason I like to think about “what ifs” when im in the ocean. If a shark attacked me I would straight punch that fish in the face, for reals. Actually I really think I would die of a hard attack (while rereading this post I realized I put “hard attack” instead of heart attack, I like hard attack better so im leavin it. my blog, my rules.) if a shark attacked me. Most interesting fact learned during shark week: sharks are more likely to attack some one in a red or yellow swimsuit and less likely to attack a black swimsuit. Remember that. Anyways, we got to Oceanside on Thursday night and stayed until Sunday. I brought a camera but didn’t take it out once. In closing, I would like to give several thank yous to some of those involved in the trip. Thank you ernie for sleeping the days away and then not sleeping at night. Thank you morgan for putting tanning oil on your body that hasn’t seen the sun all summer and then falling asleep on the beach, also for falling asleep with headphones on so there would be tan lines where the cords were. Thank you zach for dragging around 200 pounds worth of seaweed in the ocean, trying to put it on top of other people then just putting it on yourself. Thank you chandler for beating me at cards, again thank you morgan for the horrible job of shuffling. Thank you brady and nicole (yeah im giving you a shout out, I know brady reads this) for coming down for the day to hang out. Thank you gaslight district in san diego for not having parking for under 20 bucks, if it wasn’t for you we would have spent another 20 bucks on tickets to the padres and giants game, two teams that we cant name a single player who plays for them. And thank you sal masekela for always giving us some one to make fun of while watching the x games.

No Cutting Ronny
Last Friday we went to the Team USA vs Team Canada game at the Thomas and Mack Center. At first the game was pretty boring. Most UNLV basketball games have more highlights than the first half had. The second half was a lot better and Team USA looked more like the Harlem Globetrotters which was what everyone was hoping for. the game wasnt even close and Team USA won by almost 60 points.

Before the game Ronny Turiaf totally cut us in line to get tickets. Then he let Derrick Fisher back cut. Not cool guys. Most people that were there were Lakers fans (for some reason most people from vegas are) so they didnt care. We didnt really care either, the guy is in the nba, he can do whatever he wants at stuff like this

Bill Gates and Warren Buffet were at the game. also the guy in the white shirt sitting next to bill gates is Ludacris.

even though the way we play basketball is very similar, our shoes arent.

Family Reunion
every year on the fourth of july we have a family reunion up at brianhead, ut. every year we also go down to parawan and watch the towns fourth of july parade. i dont feel like writing a lot so here are some pictures

ty is sick of waiting for the parade, as was i.

after the parade everyone goes over to the park and they have kind of a town fair. they have races for the little kids. this is me coaching riley. she lost this race to her older cousin but it was an older division, she dominated the kids her age. everyone one of my nephews and nieces came in first in their age divisions, they had good coaches

by far the creepiest part of the parade

crossfire- the ultimate challenge

The other day while walking through DI we came across an old crossfire game. my initial reaction was to buy it. then i remembered that crossfire is one of those games that seems like the greatest game ever when your not playing it but once you play it you remember that it isnt that fun. it is proven that 99% of all crossfire boards have one gun that works good and another gun that always gets jammed and doesnt work. I remember the bb's would always get lost. the commercials for the game were intense. kids coming into an arena of screaming fans riding a hover board, playing with lightning in the background and the loser spins away. the commercial refers to it as the ultimate challenge. life would be awesome if the ultimate challenge was a game of crossfire. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=rCwn1NTK-50)
the person who owned the crossfire board always won because they knew which side worked and which side didnt. people say that home court advantage is most important in the nba, but in crossfire its more important. anyways we didnt buy the crossfire board, it didnt have any bb's.

learn to paint

the man in this picture is bob ross. his show used to always be on pbs but has slowly been taken off the air. last week his show was on and i watched him take a plain white canvas and within an hour paint an entire mountain range with a river and birds and everything you would think a mountain range would have. time flew by. me and my roommate debated over who is a better artist, van gough or ross. we couldnt decide because their styles are so different. van gough had a colorful impressionist style while ross is more of a boom! in your face, i'll paint whatever i want to kind of style. ross is definitley more of a people person although we dont really know because van gough never had a television show. during the show, bob talks to his paintings. when he was painting the river he said, "make it a happy river, there, a happy river, oh what a happy river". what makes a river happy? nintendo was going to make a bob ross painting game for the wii but decided to cancel the project. thats too bad. i would much rather paint on the wii then in real life. in real life you get paint everywhere and you cant erase your mistakes. i bet i am a lot better artist on video games then in real life.
